For volumizing hair, exfoliating skin, eliminating wrinkles and more

From blush-obsessed makeup to bold hair bows to chrome nails, 2024 brought some exciting beauty trends. We even saw brands bring back iconic launches and welcome new ones. That all makes us excited for what may come in the new year.

According to lifestyle expert Michelle Park, 2025 is the year to seriously look into the beauty gadget space. The ones to watch out for may come as a surprise, including an anti-aging LED lip mask, a specialized scrunchie designed to maintain blowouts and an electric callus remover with a built-in vacuum (because that's a mess no one wants to clean up).

Keep reading to discover more beauty tools worth having in your new year skin care, hair and shower routines.

Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite™ LipWare Pro

When it comes to anti-aging skin care and practices, we bet it hasn't even occurred to you to give your lips a good, hard look. We're here to tell you that your pout needs some loving, too, and this tiny but mighty tool is designed to give it the right care it deserves. According to the brand, the LipWare Pro can target wrinkles and treat fine lines in just three minutes. It features 56 LED lights that can reach the entire lip area, all working to improve circulation, support natural collagen levels and even enhance fullness.

Voloom Rootie Professional Volumizing Ceramic Hair Iron

If you have thin hair, you probably have a tough time creating or maintaining your hair's volume. Makes you wish there was a tool dedicated solely to giving your 'do a fuller look, right? Well, Park has you covered, recommending this innovative tool that is designed with checkerboard-shaped ceramic plates that make hidden "volume pockets" that lift hair and create a straight-out-of-the-salon look.

Silk'n VacuPedi Electric Callus Remover

I'll say what we're all maybe thinking: We don't talk about our feet enough. It's true! It may not be the most popular topic, but that doesn't take away from the importance of keeping skin in that area, especially the heels, healthy and smooth. To give rough feet a long overdue treatment, Park recommends this electric callus remover, which features three types of grinding discs that can rotate up to 1,550 times per minute to properly exfoliate and remove dead skin. But what really sets this machine apart from the rest is its built-in vacuum and replaceable filters, which work to capture skin flakes and make cleanup a breeze.

Curl Queen The Glove

Sure, gloves are essential accessories for surviving frosty winters, but we also found another pair that guarantee a better hair care experience — no matter the season.

Described by the brand as a "revolutionary hair tool," these gloves offer a laundry list of benefits to your hair. Use them to detangle strands, stimulate the scalp, improve blood circulation and massage your favorite products into your hair more effectively. The brand also recommends using them in the shower for a "full body experience." Just pop them onto your hands, adjust them to your preferred size and return your wash routine as normal!

The Sleepy Tie

It's 2025! You'd think there would be an easy way to extend the life of your blowout by now... Well, there is! The Sleepy Tie — a Shop TODAY editor-favorite product — is really all you need to make sure your good hair day turns into a good hair week. Our contributing writer recommends watching the brand's how-to video to nail the application, but once you get it, it's sure to become a staple in your nightly ritual. The tool is made from satin (with the brand explaining the avoidance of silk for preventing animal cruelty practices) and comes in several colors and three sizes (small, medium and large) to accommodate different hair lengths and thicknesses.

Trending beauty gadgets previously seen on TODAY

Julee Wilson, Beauty Editor at Large at Cosmopolitan, previously shared some of her favorite trending beauty gadgets to target scalp care, makeup application and more.

Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand

This innovative tool offers both a cold and heat treatment to help brighten the skin, tighten pores and reduce the appearance of puffy eyes in one. It's also perfectly contoured to gently glide across the skin, helping to target every inch of your face without tugging.

For instance, "The temperature is sensitive enough so that it won't damage even like the delicate area of skin under your eyes," explains Wilson.

ISAMAYA x FaceGym Sculpt 01 Tool

"This innovative tool, developed with Isamaya, targets lymphatic drainage, improves circulation and releases tension for a sculpted look," explains Wilson. "Use it on your face and scalp for boosted results," she adds, just as you would a gua sha tool. Wilson even recommends using the points at the top of the comb to target various acupressure points.

Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Face 2.0 Teardrop Kabuki Complexion Brush

Your makeup brush can have a major impact on the way your foundation applies. A favorite of Wilson's is this one from Danessa Myricks Beauty, which is purposefully teardrop-shaped to effortlessly glide across facial contours. Your makeup base will never be the same.

T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers Luxe Set

Ditch the salon — these T3 hot rollers promise a bouncy blowout right at home. "With dual temperature settings and CoolGrip technology, styling is effortless and long-lasting," suggests Wilson, who says she "swears by these rollers." The rollers themselves claim to be easy to wrap and distribute heat evenly.

Although some might think they're the past, Wilson disagrees. "I really think hot rollers are one of those old-school beauty device that is coming back," she predicts.

Pattern Beauty The Hair Steamer

You've heard about a facial steamer, but how about one for the hair? According to Wilson, Pattern Beauty's The Hair Steamer infuses your strands with deep hydration by helping to open cuticles and improve hair health.

"It helps detangle curls, stretch strands and protect against damage for your healthiest hair yet," she says. "During the wintertime, it’s great to hydrate your hair since the air is so dry." The device is also great for boosting the results of your favorite masks and treatments.

Jenny Patinkin Beauty Bestie Product Prolongers

"Get every last drop of your favorite products with these dual-ended silicone scoops," mentions Wilson. "A beauty essential for reducing waste and maximizing use." We're sold!

2025 beauty trend predictions, according to editors and search

Enhanced scalp care

Last year, we saw many online users use hair oiling as a method to help manage hair loss, thinning and care. But for 2025, we should see more tricks for taking care of the scalp, too, for skin care from head to toe.

For instance, “scalp growth for hair loss” has seen a spike in search, according to Google Trends, in the past 30 days. So if your New Year’s resolution is stronger and healthier hair, we suggest taking advantage of this trend.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Hair Serum

Associate editor Shannon Garlin previously reviewed The Ordinary's Multi-Peptide Hair Serum for improving hair and scalp health. After consistent use, she noticed some impressive results. "I no longer find myself itching my head throughout the day (unless I’ve gone too long without washing my hair), and the flaking is completely gone," says Garlin.

Briogeo Style and Treat Dry Shampoo Puff

We've noticed a change in how we apply dry shampoo over the past few months. Recent launches show more dry shampoo puffs over sprays, showing a possible shift away from aerosol sprays this upcoming year.

In fact, Briogeo just released their Dry Shampoo Puff, which claims to be talc- and benzene-free formula for refreshing oily roots on-the-go, all while treating the scalp.

HigherDose Red Light Hat

Commerce editor and producer Julie Ricevuto has noticed a trend in red light therapy for hair and tested this treatment from HigherDose to help manage thin hair. “I’m about a week and a half into using it and my favorite thing about it is how easy it is to use,” Ricevuto explains. “I just put the hat on, it has a self-timer so it beeps after 10 minutes, and then I’m done. Hopefully, I get good results after a few months of use!”

Aura makeup

According to Pinterest, aura makeup will be headlining makeup trends this year. In fact, search for “full color makeup eyes” has been up 375%, along with high traffic for topics like “purple blush” and “golden aura.”

Fazit Makeup Patches Sparkle Freckles

After these glitter freckles were made famous by one very popular celebrity, the brand saw an increase in interest in the product, including production coordinator Camryn Privette. Apply just like a temporary tattoo by sticking it to your skin and using a damp cloth to help it transfer. Once removed, the freckles should blend seamlessly.

Glossier Black Cherry Balm Dotcom

“Burgundy tones are having a major beauty moment right now and the trend shows no signs of stopping in 2025,” raves production associate Audrey Ekman. “Glossier released their Black Cherry collection this month, and while I’m obsessed with the whole line, my favorite item from the collection is the Black Cherry Balm Dotcom; a nourishing lip balm in the perfect, juicy, burgundy-red shade.”

We’re also fans of Clinique’s Black Honey lipstick, too, which happens to be a Shop TODAY Beauty Awards winner.

Saie Glowy Super Gel Multipurpose Illuminator

There seem to be endless ways to use Saie’s Glowy Super Gel. From mixing with your foundation, adding it to your body cream and using it as a highlighter, you can get a glow from head to toe. Their new shade, Warmglow, is a soft, warm gold that is the perfect hue for achieving this trend.

Mocha mousse

Along with satin skin and natural glam, mocha makeup will have its moment. We're guessing its because Mocha Mousse was Pantone's 'Color of the Year' for 2025, which is described as a subtle, warm and rich brown.

Merit Beauty Solo Shadow in Midcentury

This cream-to-powder eyeshadow pot from Merit applies like a dream. Although an eyeshadow brush is handy, the product is easy to blend with just your fingertips alone.

Tower28 Beauty Line + Shine Chocolate Brown Lip Duo

Your go-to lip combo is just a click away. Tower28's Line+ Shine lip duo comes with their bestselling lip liner and gloss that are equally comfortable to wear and apply.

Hair styling with a 'twist'

Senior social media editor Kate McCarthy predicts that French hair pins "will be huge this year" after seeing tutorials on how to use them online. We might also notice more trendy hair ties this year, from ties with metal hardware to playful bow shapes.

Kitsch French Hair Pin

While it might look complicated to use, French hair pins should provide a more secure way to perfect your slick back buns. Unlike claw clips, you have to twist the hair pin counter clockwise to form a bun shape.

Ettika Noble Nugget Hair Tie

Your hair deserves dressing up, too. Loved by social media editorial assistant Annie Shigo, this chic hair tie has metallic silver hardware to upgrade your standard ponytail.

Fruity fragrance

2024 was possibly the year of sweet and romantic scents, with fruits like cherry and strawberry making a comeback. We’ll still be on the fruit train in 2025, but we’ll see more fragrances dive into fruity notes like peach, plum, pear, citrus and apricot; AKA, the rise of more ‘fresh’ smelling fruits.

Snif Me Eau de Toilette

Skin scents, fragrances that adapt to your body’s natural pH, have become popular over the years. Diving into the trend and those of 2025, Snif’s ‘Me’ perfume has hints of plum, peach and white that will “shape-shift” to create a scent unique to you. Ekman calls it “a sophisticated blend” that she “can’t wait to get compliments on all year!”

Phlur Apricot Privée Eau de Parfum

With notes of apricot, plum, peonies and jasmine, this perfume from internet-favorite fragrance brand Phlur might be the epitome of what’s to come in 2025. It’s fresh; it’s delicate; and it’s incredibly juicy.

Prada Infusion de Rhubarbe Eau de Parfum

Prada’s Infusion de Rhubarbe Eau de Parfum is full of personality. At the top of the fragrance is green mandarine, followed by rhubarb, rose and musk for a unisex, fruity-floral fragrance that is equally sweet and mature.
