“Saturday Night Live” is reuniting with some fan-favorite celebrity hosts for its upcoming 50th anniversary special.
This year, the NBC live sketch comedy series, which debuted in October 1975, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To commemorate the historic moment, NBC will soon air a live three-hour show, honoring “SNL” and the long-running show’s ability to keep fans laughing for half a century.
So far, “SNL” creator and producer Lorne Michaels and the current cast have been fairly tight-lipped when it comes to sharing details about the tribute episode.
But during the week leading up to the special, NBC revealed a few famous faces who will be featured on the big night.
Among the names are “Five-Time’s Club” members — stars who have served as a host at least five times — Steve Martin and Tom Hanks, as well as former hosts and music guests, like Dave Chappelle, Kim Kardashian and Sabrina Carpenter.

What has been said about the 50th anniversary show?
“SNL” comedian Mikey Day stopped by TODAY all the way back in June 2023 and dropped a couple hints as to what fans can expect from the hours-long special.
“Oh my gosh, it’s going to be insane,” Day told TODAY co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “I haven’t heard that much. I know Lorne’s slowly putting it together.”
He continued, “I believe every famous person in the universe will be there. It’s wild.”
During a red carpet interview at the 2023 Emmys, Entertainment Weekly asked Michaels who he could see succeeding him when he’s ready to retire, to which the “SNL” creator spoke about the 50th anniversary.
“We’re doing the 50th anniversary show in February of ’25, so I will definitely be there for that, and definitely be there until that, and sometime before that we’ll figure out what we’re going to do,” he said at the time.
