A Rafting Lane Will be Built at Lake Tisza

Gyula Balogh, the mayor of Abádszalók, spoke at a press conference about the successful tourist season and future plans.

From 2015, when 37,000 people visited Lake Tisza Beach, to 2020 when 60,000 people visited, shows a marked increase in popularity. In response to the increased number of visitors, new bathrooms and baby-mommy rooms will be established in the beach area, and the range of services related to sports and cycling will also be expanded. The investments will be implemented with the support of the Hungarian Tourism Agency.

The mayor also pointed out that the area’s 160 accommodation facilities were fully booked on the weekends, and the Kisfaludy program enables nearly 100 private accommodations to get renovated and developed in the coming months.

The city’s own infrastructure development plans are also now underway, enabling visitors to use the services of Abádszalók’s beach and swimming pool, in addition to Lake Tisza Beach during their stay, the mayor added.

The Lake Tisza Regional Development Council is continuously working to implement new developments. In October 2020, the renovation of roads started. The development will provide visitors better accessibility to Lake Tisza. The road renovation will take place in several stages up until spring 2021.

As a joint project with the open-air beach development in Abádszalók, a two-story rest stop of 200 square meters will be completed next to the “Hallépcső” (fish ladder), with washbasins and a buffet built in the nearby building as well.

Head of the Kiskörei Section Engineering of the Central Tisza Region Water Directorate Lőrinc Fejes pointed out that a rafting track will also be built. The construction of the two-lane white water rafting tracks could start in 2022.
