The first Book Week was the brainchild of Géza Supka in 1929. Throughout the years the organizers have always found it important to make it as colorful as possible and to integrate other “art” elements such as music and dance into the program.
This year, the aim of the city is to turn the Book Week into a real festival.
Guest of honor: Géza Bereményi, one of the key figures of the contemporary Hungarian art scene
This year’s guest of honor is Géza Bereményi, one of the most versatile creators of the contemporary Hungarian art scene, he will speak about his life and work as well as his love for books.
If you want to get involved with a real community movement, you should head to the Csapó Street, MODEM or the Péter Méliusz Juhász Library.
You can find many stands selling great books and diverse performances on the Csapó Street, then in the reading corner of Péter Méliusz Juhász Library and MODEM, you can connect with literature.
You can meet with famous Hungarian writers such as Imre Bartók, Rózsa Bérczesi, János Fábián, Rose Holden , László Kiss, Kukorelly Endre, Réka Mán-Várhegyi, Csilla Papp, Krisztina Tóth and Balázs Víg.
László Kollár-Klemencz arrives with a musical evening and you can also see an exhibition of the work of Hajnalka Simonidesz, with fairy-tale illustrations. The exhibition can be seen until the 6th of July in the Péter Méliusz Juhász Library.
Oradea is a special guest of the event and Marvel Cosplay Show
“Oradea, with its own stand, is a special guest of the Book Week and will introduce the Nagyvárad Chronicle and Zoltán Péteri’s expecting biography”, said Péter Pogrányi, program director.

The Marvel Cosplay Show celebrates the comic culture and a very interesting part of the whole event. Marvel fans will be dressed up as Marvel characters.
