Budapest, The European Water Sports Center

It seems that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has won over Cornel Marculescu, the Executive Director of the International Swimming Association (FINA). Not only will Budapest hold FINA Women’s Super Final 2019 (4-7th June) but also the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series – Super Final (14-16th June 2019), followed by 2 other competitions later on in 2019.

Thereafter, in 2020, Hungary will be the destination for swimmers and sports fans as the European Championship water events are held in Budapest. The first event to be held in January 2020 is the Water polo, followed by, swimming, diving and artistic swimming in May, open water swimming in June and last but not least, the high diving competition in August 2020.

Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, is quoted as saying that both PM Orbán and Cornel Marculescu were pleased that Budapest has become one of the most important international centers and biggest supporters of water sports in the world.
