In his opening speech, Minister of Technology and Industry László Palkovics said that one of the reasons BMW chose Debrecen as the location for its new factory was because the city was attractive enough.
Events like Campus Festival contribute to making Debrecen more attractive and a good place to live, he said.
Palkovics told MTI that his ministry and the University of Debrecen have been working together for the past eight years, and ever since, good progress in all areas has been made.
The institution is moving up in the various rankings. The venue of Campus Festival, the Nagyerdei Stadium, is owned by the university, which means that Debrecen is a rich university, he said.
The festival in Debrecen, which runs until July 24, features more than 200 concerts and DJ performances at 19 venues, as well as a wide range of other activities. This year marks the 14th edition of one of the country’s biggest popular music festivals.
