Work on the Semcorp production plant in Debrecen is proceeding as planned, with the test run expected to start in the first quarter, the management of the Chinese Semcorp Group confirmed in a statement sent to MTI via its PR agency; and as Debrecen4U has reported.
“As we made public last November, our business activities and plans within the group are proceeding as usual. This includes our investment in Debrecen, where construction and equipment installation continues as planned,” James Shih-t, Semcorp Group vice president of global projects, said.
“We look forward to starting trial production later this year,” he added.
Semcorp announced its EUR 183 million project in November 2020 and started constructing its first lithium-ion battery separator film manufacturing plant outside China in September 2021. The investment will create more than 440 jobs in and around Debrecen.
