The event “Debrecen Drive – All that rolls” took place on 25-26 May 2019 for the very first time in the Great Forest in Debrecen. The event was well publicised and extremely well organized, we encountered advertising for the event months ago and we were very excited to attend.
The organizers wanted to create an event that was about cars but for everybody – for both professionals and car lovers alike and for all ages, and for both men and women, excluding no one – and this was how Debrecen Drive was born.
The Nagyerdei Stadium situated in a beautiful green area adjacent to the Great Forest provided the ideal location to showcase 500 different vehicles within an area of around 50,000 square meters.
“Debrecen Drive is another innovative event in the life of the city and the region where all segments of the automotive industry are represented”, said Laszlo Papp, Mayor of Debrecen.
He added that “the city is now an integral part of the automotive industry. We have to show that Debrecen as county seat is the industry leader in Hungary. We should keep up with this rhythm, and we should do the improvements needed to assist automotive companies to be successful in Debrecen”.
Debrecen Drive is as successful as the Campus Festival
Besides passenger cars, the automotive industry and the entire transport sector played a vital role in the event, and it felt like an international event.
At Debrecen Drive, we could really see everything that was promised.
There were new cars and commercial vehicles, sports cars, classic cars and motorcycles, trams, firefighters, ambulances and police cars, military vehicles, bikes and electric vehicles… and much more. They even had a monster truck and a well-choreographed stunt performance situated next to the Vodafone 5G stand.
Debrecen Drive was a great experience for kids as well. They could try out rubbish trucks, police cars, fire trucks, and even cranes. They could also participate in interactive programs and test driving of kids electric cars as well as participate in competitions, games, and try out automotive simulators.
You could see a lot of interesting competitions, such as a model car tour or a motocross show.
