The Debrecen Innovation Center will be a meeting point for startups, researchers, and companies, with the purpose to take projects from idea all the way to prototype production.
The development is a joint project of the Debrecen University, which supports innovation and entrepreneurial approach and the government. In total, the state provided HUF 3 billion 883 million for the construction of the Innovation Center.
One of the most modern incubator houses in the country will be located on three levels of approximately 5,000 square meters in total. Laboratories and workshops will be located on the lower level and offices on the upper level. The middle level will be the arrival space with a community “marketplace”, dining area, lounges, meeting rooms, and coworking areas.
Internal comfort will be provided by an air-to-water heat pump and heat recovery ventilation, and the heat pumps will be powered by solar panels. Next to the building, two artificial hills will be built, one of which will house machinery and bicycle storage.

The Debrecen Innovation Center will be built according to the plans of the Bord Architect Studio in the Nyulas district (No. 37 Vezér Street), in the area of the UD Science, Technology and Innovation Park. Bord Architect Studio, founded in Budapest, designed several other buildings including the recently opened International School of Debrecen, the Forest Offices Debrecen, and the new spa. The construction of the innovation center will be carried out by Hunép Zrt for a net amount of HUF 3 billion 770 million according to the local newspaper, dehir.hu.
