The cooperation was formalized on 17th of March 2023 at the headquarters of the new partner, Agri-Corn Kft. in Monostorpályi. The event was honored by the presence of Mihály Varga, Minister of Finance.
For Agri-Corn Kft., a member of Civita Group Zrt., today was a significant day in more ways than one: with not only two new production lines for the gluten-free pasta factory and the production line for edible cups and plates inaugurated but also a milestone was reached in their efforts to ensure professional succession. Péter Vaszkó, a member of the company’s board of directors, and Sándor Szilágyi, director general of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre, signed a strategic cooperation agreement. In the contract, the parties agreed that the students of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre would have the opportunity to do their professional practice at the company within the framework of dual training.
Sándor Szilágyi said that the cooperation is of great importance, as it gives students a unique opportunity to gain knowledge in a world-class technology equipped gluten-free food production plant.
The company will provide students of the DSZC Irinyi János High School with work experience in the increasingly popular process of producing reformulated foods. In addition, Agri-Corn Ltd. is also looking for food engineering and mechatronics technician students.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony following the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement, Mayor of Debrecen László Papp said that Debrecen is undergoing very serious economic developments, which are also affecting the agglomeration. The mayor stressed that he is proud that the Debrecen families play a significant role in the food industry, which is very important in the life of the country, including the Vaszkó family, with whom Debrecen has been working in close cooperation for decades.
István Vitányi, Member of Parliament for the region, also highlighted the economic development processes taking place in Debrecen, stressing that this could bring many benefits for small villages, as it is hoped that suppliers to large factories will find a home in the region. In the last 10-12 years, a number of developments have been implemented to help the settlements, including the motorway to the border and the modernization of the railway infrastructure.
Gábor Vaszkó, a member of the board of Agri-Corn Ltd, presented the investment. He said that “this new facility is not just a factory, but a place that shows the dreams and opportunities that have been realized through people’s cooperation and hard work.” The new production line is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to allow the company to achieve more efficient and sustainable production. New equipment, production processes, and automation all increase efficiency, ensuring high quality.
The factory opening ceremony was also addressed by Minister of Finance Mihály Varga, who stressed: the company has reached a new milestone with the special robots and new production lines inaugurated today. The minister paid tribute to the family that started the company 30 years ago. He believes that none of this would have been possible without their perseverance and commitment. Mihály Varga said that if the Hungarian economic structure is looking for models for itself, it is obviously worth finding models based on strong family businesses and strong companies. Going public will be a new step in the company’s life, which will help it to raise funds – including on the Budapest Stock Exchange – that will help it to realize its future vision. The Finance Minister said this is the right direction, and it is particularly pleasing that it is being done in the food industry, which is supported by the state. In the spirit of interdependence, if the state helps companies to achieve their goals, economic actors can also help the state to achieve economic policy or social policy goals.
Following the speeches, members of the Vaszkó family, Finance Minister Mihály Varga, and István Vitányi cut the ribbon to inaugurate the production lines, officially launching production at the plant.
