The regional emergency center in Debrecen is an example for Europe
A pediatric healthcare system that will be built in Hungary in 2020-2021 is likely to be an example for Europe – said the Minister of Human Resources, speaking at the opening of the emergency child care department of the Aladár Petz County Teaching Hospital in Győr.
Mr. Miklós Kásler emphasized that one of the main priorities of the government policy is family and children. The development of the pediatrics capability as well as the networking of the healthcare systems play a vital part in the government’s future activities.
The project has a budget of 14 billion HUF, enabling the government to build a national healthcare system for child traumatology and emergency child care assistance in Hungary. The headquarters will be in Heim Pál National Institute of Pediatrics, in Budapest.
They will open five sub-regional centers in Pécs, Szeged, Debrecen, Győr and Miskolc.
Due to injuries, 35,000 children are hospitalized and 470,000 children are in need of outpatient care in Hungary each year.
The project also enables the development of those same protocols for emergency child care assistance all across the country.
The development will will take place in collaboration with the ambulance service with the aim that seriously injured children can get to a hospital from any part of the country within 90 minutes.
