The Debrecziner Gourmet Festival undertook to present quality gastronomy with the support of the Stylish Rural Restaurant Association. Held in Nagyerdő, (Great Forest) on the shore of Lake Békás, the gastronomic holiday has become more and more popular year by year, with 5000 attending in 2019. Due to the epidemic situation, the festival could not be held last year. In 2021, the event is to be held later, in the Autumn.
In 2019, when the event was last held, the public could sample cuisine, confectioneries and produce from fourteen rural and metropolitan restaurants, three confectioneries, six street-food caterers and several exceptionally high-quality small producers. The three-day event was enhanced with cooking demonstrations and small group workshops.
This year I would definitely like to hold the festival, however, due to the uncertainties caused by the epidemic, the event would be held on the first weekend of September, 3rd, 4th and 5th instead of June, but the venue would remain around Lake Békás, Sándor Kerekes, one of the main organizers of the Debrecziner Gourmet Festival told to local newspaper.
