Border Crossing Exhibition
November 8, 2019 @ 8:00 am – December 8, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
By opening the borders three decades ago, Hungary took the first steps to pave the way for the reunification of Germany and the creation of a united, free Europe.
On the occasion of the Pan-European Picnic and the 30th anniversary of the demolition of the Berlin Wall, the Deutsches Cultural Forum and the museum MODEM showcase the period of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the borders opening, the peaceful revolution and the reunification of Germany.
“Hungary has knocked the first stone out of the wall,” said Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl three decades ago.
Hundreds and thousands of photos and posters preserve the symbolic actions that led to the demolition of the Berlin wall thirty years ago.
The exhibition is open from 8 November until 8 December 2019 in MODEM.
