FAG to Make Engineering More Attractive in Debrecen

FAG Hungary Ipari Kft. developed a special training program for Mechwar András Mechanical and Informatics Gymnasium to tighten its relationship with the school.

The FAG Hungary Ipari Kft., the Debrecen Training Center (DSZC), Mechwar András Mechanical and Informatics Gymnasium as well as the Municipality of Debrecen, the University of Debrecen and the Chamber of Commerce of Hajdú-Bihar County signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 26 October 2018.

The aim of the cooperation is to enable FAG to support the education system of the school.

“The Municipality of Debrecen fully supports the initiative. Today, we talk a lot about training the workforce, and the city wishes to meet the workforce needs of the companies operating in Debrecen. The municipality continuously works with the Debrecen Training Center and the University of Debrecen to take the constantly changing employer needs into account” said Lajos Barcsa, Vice Mayor.

The goal is to increase the number of students in the educational institutions of the Debrecen Training Center, and to strengthen the technical training at the University of Debrecen.

The Schaeffler Group is a pioneer in educating the workforce. The Schaeffler Academy, has operated since 2014, where students learn about the industry’s state-of-the-art technology.

The agreement also serves the purpose of having highly trained workforce who are already familiar with the company and its working culture, and able to create high added value from the first workday.

According to the agreement, FAG develops a special training program for the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th German-Hungarian language engineer classes and for 13th grade Mechanical Engineering Technology classes, as well as it will provide the school with modern equipment.

Péter Szabó, Managing Director of FAG Hungary Ipari Kft. said “it is the first time when they started the dual training, but they take it seriously.”.

“I think the Mechwart’s results speak for themselves. We believe that this agreement will be positive for the school and our company, and hopefully it will inspire other companies and institutions. We do not want to chain any young people to the company. We only wish them to know our company and the German work culture”, said the manager.

In the agreement, the company also guaranteed summer training to students, offering them professional German language training and help to participate in the Schaeffler scholarship program.

“The professional guidance and the acquisition of corporate culture are important for the school; in addition, the Schaeffler Group will help the well-performing young people individually.
