Families are invited to the Hármashegyalja recreation forest a May Day programme on Monday, 1st of May.
The old lady of the Zsuzsi Narrow-Gauge Railway started its operation 141 years ago this year, on 16th of July 1882, transporting timber felled in the Gúth forest. The first of May also marks the pioneering era of the Zsuzsi railway.
“In this celebration of family and child-centredness, we want to give voice to our heritage of small railways, love and protection of nature,” the organisers say.
Visitors can enjoy folk dancing and communal dance, dog shows, handicraft activities, folk games and demonstrations of native domestic animals, among other things.
The Zsuzsi Forest Railway programmes are free of charge. On this day, only diesel locomotives will run.
