Interactive exhibition helps visitors learn about Hortobágy

New exhibition opens in Hortobágy to help visitors to learn about Hortobágy in an interactive way.

At the exhibition in Kungyörgypuszta, you can learn about what plants, beetles and rare bird species live in Hortobágy. The interactive exhibition was created as part of a LIFE project five years ago and you can visit it free of charge after registration.

The interactive exhibition was designed to promote the importance of the wilderness. Native Hungarian domestic animals also play an important role in the program.

“I think the nature management of the Hortobágy is an example of this educational and nature conservation activity”, said Ákos Torbik, Head of Project and Marketing of the Hortobágy Nature Conservation and Gene reservation Non-profit Ltd.

Hortobágy in a nutshell: One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Hortobágy National Park is the perfect archetype of pristine natural landscapes and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Hortobágy National Park is often called as “puszta” that describes a big, empty place, – but before you move fast away, keep reading because the Hortobágy has a lot to offer.

You can admire the “Nine-Hole” bridge that is the truly iconic landmark in Hortobágy and it the grandest and longest of similar Hungarian stone constructions that were built in 1833 according to the plans of Ferenc Povolny.

If you want to learn more about the landscape, the animal species and the wilderness, you should visit the Hortobágy Herdsmen’s Museum or Hortobágy Wildlife Park – Puszta Safari. If you are not one of the faint-hearted, you might even take the risk in participating an “extreme safari” and get up close to (wild) animals of Hortobágy.
