The international food day is the largest and most popular event of the International Student Union (ISU), which brings together foreign students.
With almost 6000 students from 113 nations studying at the University of Debrecen, it is understandable why it is such a popular event.
The event started as a tiny outdoor cooking event and it has become the kind of festival that moves the masses, worthy of the title of “international food day”.
“It brings students together and helps nurture the community we’ve built at the university”, Sayed-Ahmad Mohamed, Vice President for Foreign Students of the Student Union (DEHÖK) stated.
Similar to last year, the square in front of the main building serves as a venue for presenting the dishes of the 22 nationalities.
The event starts at 3PM on 3rd of May and you can taste the national dishes of students from different countries including Brazil, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Kurdistan, Mexico, Moldavia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, South Africa, Syria, Taiwan, Taiwan Tunisian and Yemeni.
The money raised from the festival will be donated to the Leukemia Children Foundation.
