Two new lookout towers will be built in the Hortobágy National Park, and both will be accessible only by water.
One of the lookouts will be built on an island in the Csapói Holt-Tisza and it will used for bird-watching, located a little further away from the trees. The other lookout tower will be in a small bay, close to the port of Neptun in Újlőrincfalva.
Both lookouts will be nine feet high. Designer Komáromi Tas focuses on making the structure as durable as possible while also making sure they fit into the surrounding landscape. The lookouts have four-meter-long galvanized-steel to ensure stability and the towers are made of larch.
The Office of the Government Commissioner for Active Hungary, led by Máriusz Révész, is providing HUF 35 million in support for the construction of the two lookouts, which will be maintained by local tourism businesses.
Construction is scheduled to take place from winter 2020 to early spring 2021, and those interested will be able to visit the lookouts free of charge in the 2021 season.
