The mayors of counties in North-Eastern Hungary have signed a cooperation agreement designed to strengthen economic cooperation.
The aim of this agreement between Debrecen, Szolnok, Miskolc, and Nyíregyháza is to distribute the benefits of investment and growing economies”, said Balázs Nagy, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology.
Meanwhile, László Palkovics added that complex development solutions are needed for unique national, economic and cultural zones. The concentrated collaboration of the region will have a positive impact not only on the development of the counties’ centers but also on other settlements in the area and therefore the whole countryside. The preparation for this collaboration has been going on for more than a year.
“The key goal is to increase the population retention power of the economic zone, to develop its infrastructure, economy, and culture, and to strengthen its competitiveness. Everything is given to developing successful, win-win cooperation between the area’s community, economic operators and residents,” he said.
Finally, László Palkovics called the cooperation across the four counties and cross-border areas important also in the context of the new EU support system, where similar complex projects can succeed.
Future projects under this cooperation will be available by the second half of 2020.
