What are the most iconic buildings of the Bord Architect Studio in Debrecen?

The Bord Architectural Studio designed several iconic buildings in Debrecen including the Nagyerdei Stadium, the Aquaticum Water Park (Debrecen Spa) and the International School of Debrecen, the last two are still under construction at the time of writing. These stunning buildings are an inspiration.

Aquaticum Water Park Debrecen – Like No Other in Europe

By designing the Aquaticum Water Park (Debrecen Spa), the Bord Studio wanted to create something new and unique, – something that is truly different from all other spas in the region or the country and with a huge 6000 meter water surface area.

They decided to break with the traditional, horizontal spa concepts and created a three-dimensional experience. The results are revolutionary, spectacular and breathtaking.

Nagyerdei Stadium – Open, Clean and Dynamic

The Bord Studio wanted to create a futuristic stadium that was connected to a human-scale city like Debrecen and be reconciled with the extraordinary values and potentials of the landscape. The Nagyerdei Stadium became an open, clear, dynamic and flexible building with the intention of focusing on the direct experience of a live game.

International School of Debrecen – Children, Nature and Project-based Learning

The International School of Debrecen approaches education from a different point of view, according to a global and effective pedagogical model, – the International Baccalaureate Program. The project-based learning does not only provide children with functional knowledge that they need for work and life but keep them inspired and motivated (and not killing the soul before evening starting the “Big Life”.

The Bord Studio wished to design a truly stunning building that is modern, safe and where nature becomes accessible for children and the pathways formed by them recreate their connection to nature time after time.

Does Debrecen Live up to the Title of “City of the Future”?

“I spend two days a week in Debrecen and I really loved it. Although we opened the first office in Budapest, I grew up in a small town in the middle of Jászság, and therefore Debrecen is much closer to me than the capital. I have many friends here and many new contacts have been made in recent years. I feel like the city has been accepted me and it is proved by the fact that many people ask me when I come “back home”. I feel good here.

In Debrecen, you can do things you can’t do elsewhere. People are also very receptive, besides the famous civic mentality. Perhaps, it is no surprise that the first two-lane roundabout was built in this city”, – Péter Bordás stated in his last interview with Cívishír.
