A new sports centre is going to be built in Debrecen-Józsa. With the development project to be situated on Gönczy Pál street. In addition to the sports center will be commercial and healthcare facilities for the residents of Józsa.
One of the main targets of the New Phoenix Plan to shape urban sub-centres in Debrecen. Józsa qualifies as one such centre and as a result, will benefit from the development of the commercial, health-care and sports facility. More and more people are moving to this suburb of the town, and thusthere has been an increasing need to build a sports-centre in Józsa – said Mr Ákos Balázs, the local government representative in this district.
For this purpose, the Local Government of Debrecen city and the Debrecen Sports Centre Nonprofit Ltd. started to cooperate in 2015, in order to create a multi-functional sports centre. In April 2015, the City Council decided to apply for the establishment of two smaller artificial grass courts within the framework of the MLSZ construction of lines program. The courts that developed under the successful proposed project were completed by the end of June 2017.
At the same time, the planning of the Sport Centre building began. The designer imagined a building which fits well into different sports activities considering its location and design while providing a visual experience to the visitors. In accordance with these conditions, the building is equipped with modern changing rooms – including wheelchair-accessible room -, a buffet-bar for visitors, a covered terrace and a related bleacher area. The facility was built from over 80 million HUF and its equipment will cost an additional 10 million HUF: 30% of the cost will be provided by the Local Government of Debrecen and 70% of the cost will be financed by TAO sources. The handover of the building is in progress, and after the Sport Centre is completed, sportsmen and supporters will be able to use it.
There is currently an extension of the electrical grid in the area, which will enable the facilities to be used later in the evening thanks to external illuminated of the playing pitches. A 220-meter-long, 1,5-meter-wide, naturally grounded runway with curbstones that is surrounded by artificial grass courts is under preparationat the moment. It should be completed by the end of the year from local government’s sources.
Also in this area you will find a fitness park which will be carried out in the framework of the National Recreational Health Sports Park Program. The investment will be finalized atthe end of this year or in early 2019 as the project depends on the central procurement procedure and dependent upon the weather conditions.
The horticultural plans have been completed for the Park. The landscaping works can start at the end of October and the beginning of November.
The sports centre is expected to be completed in December, 2018, then the residents in Józsa can take the centre into their possession this time. The staff members of the DebrecenSports Centre provide a system for scheduling and court booking to make the sport centre usable for sports enthusiasts whenever they plan to use it. – put into words by Mr. András Becsky, CEO of Debrecen Sports Centre Ltd.”In order to make the Sport Centre easily accessible, the local government of Debrecen builds road sand sidewalks on over a length of 200 metres from our own resources, and they create parking spaces. – Mr. Ákos Balázs, a local government representative.
