Accor is opening a new Mercure hotel in the World Heritage-listed Tokaj wine region, thanks to an agreement with Hotel Tokaj Ltd.
An old hotel building has been completely reconstructed and renovated and now offers 55 modern rooms on four floors, with executive apartments on the top floor. Guests can also enjoy a restaurant, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a spa, as well as a wine bar serving local varieties.
“The Mercure Tokaj is housed in an iconic building from the 1980s, which used to be the only hotel in town. The historic location and the stunning surroundings combine to create the perfect guest experience, closely linked to the essence of the Mercure brand,” Csilla Nyiri, Head of Mercure Tokaj Center, said.
“We are particularly delighted that one of the most famous Hungarian wine routes and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary will be home to the first Mercure hotel outside Budapest. We believe that all our guests will be touched by the spirit of the place and will like both the region and the hotel,” Sabina Bartyzel, Accor’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe, said.
Mercure Tokaj Center’s central location on the banks of the Tisza River makes it easy to reach main attractions on foot.
The new hotel is owned by the Hungarian Hotel Tokaj Kft., a member of the family-owned TIM Global Holding Kft. The group currently owns and operates around 700 private accommodation units and four hotels in Hajdúszoboszló.
The Mercure Tokaj Center Hotel was designed by BORD Architect Studio.
