The National Association of Autists (AOSZ in Hungarian) has been representing the interests of families with autism in Hungary for thirty years. The association provides help and service for families with autism and now they are directly available in Debrecen.

The new regional center on the Street Szent Anna 43 provides complex services to families and service providers alike, both in the acquisition of advanced autism knowledge and to facilitate information flow.

The opening ceremony was attended by Edit Kővári, president of AOSZ, Zsuzsanna Sipos, a member of the Debrecen office and the president of the Debrecen Association for Autism in the Family, and dr. László Papp, mayor of Debrecen.

“Autism affects 1 in every 68 people and their families, according to international statistics”, stated Mrs. Kővári. She also added that helping autistic families is in everyone’s interest, as this is the key to social inclusion.

László Papp, mayor of Debrecen welcomed the initiative since it is the goal of the city to help and facilitate the daily lives of people with autism and their families.

The Debrecen office will also be a Service Point to assist with the introduction, promotion, and use of a unique mobile application that supports the independent living of people with autism. The organization will also launch a podcast called AUTIFI in the first week of October, which sheds new light on autism through topics of common interest.
