The playground next to Lake Békás in the heart of the Great Forest, where kids can enjoy climbing on a giant frog, a huge ship and a plane, there is now a new lighthouse, a tower with slides and a range of rope climbing adventure equipment.
The play facilities were donated by Nyírerdő Zrt. as part of an offer made to the city’s local government.
Mayor László Papp recalled, the playground opened in 2014, and was expanded further since. The newly installed three play items equate to elements worth HUF 17,5 million. The items are reportedly made from high-quality and natural materials and are now available for use.
The municipality also contributed to the investment, shock-absorbing floor area was installed in the vicinity of the new play equipment to ensure safety, and new benches and waste bins were also introduced.
The mayor thanked to the support of Nyírerdő Zrt. and emphasized that there are the construction plans for development of other playgrounds in the city as well as the comprehensive modernization of the Ötholdas Pagony have been completed.
Lajos Juhász, Deputy Chief Technical Officer of Nyírerdő Zrt., said that the playground was developed in close cooperation with the local government. He added that Nyírerdő has invested HUF 400 million in public welfare in the last 3,5 years, a significant part of which took place in Debrecen.
Tamás Majer, the local government representative of the area, also expressed his appreciation. There are currently 81 playgrounds and 24 outdoor gym parks in Debrecen.
