The renovation of the Csokonai Theater with HUF 6.3 billion is supported by the Government, both under the Modern Cities program and the Debrecen 2030 development project, supplying an additional HUF 2.5 billion.
Balázs Orbán, State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, reminded that a total of more than HUF 4,000 billion is provided for the development of the 23 cities in the framework of the Modern Cities program.
About HUF 2,500 billion will be spent on road and rail development, while the rest will be spent on local projects. Within the framework of the program launched in 2015, HUF 1,900 billion domestic and European Union funds have been disbursed so far, he added.
Balázs Orbán emphasized that the Hungarian government stands for the cultural policy of Klebelsberg and believes “Hungary can’t be saved and made great again by the sword, but by culture”. He emphasized that in the European Union, Hungary spends the most on the financing of culture, in addition to the operation of institutions and significant infrastructure investments, such as the renovation of the Csokonai Theater.
