The government will provide HUF 150 billion in support for the development of the Tokaj-Zemplén region by 2024.
The Minister of Finance Mihály Varga discussed the development of the region with György Wáberer, the government commissioner responsible for the development of the Tokaj-Zemplén Region.
After Budapest and Lake Balaton, the Tokaj-Zemplén region may become the third most important tourist region of the country, the minister emphasized.
He said that the Tokaj Wine Region Visitor Center will be built in the first round, then the tourist attractions at the Kopasz Hill in Tokaj will be created and the bicycle paths developments will also start in the region.
In the next phase, further investments can be made in Sárospatak, Sátoraljaújhely, Pálháza and Abaújszántó.
The developments will increase the opportunities of the locals and the population retention power of the settlements. The government is working to make the investments help to restart the economy throughout the country, Mihály Varga underlined.
