The University of Debrecen intends to create a computer-based e-sports room on an area of more than 200 square meters on the south side of the Great Forest Stadium.
There has been a lot of debate in recent years about whether e-sport is a sport, but it s no longer an issue today. E-sport is ranked among sports worldwide and this area is also important for the university in terms of education, research and development. The faculty of informatics and economics has already incorporated certain training elements, but in the future independent courses and specifications are also expected to appear.
Zoltán Bács, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen emphasized that e-sport requires very serious training, tactical and psychological preparation and nutritional background.
The university has already made a number of investments in the Great Forest Stadium including the fitness center, table tennis center and the HALL, one of the largest event venues in the country. In addition, the SET Center, the university’s Center for Sports Diagnostics, Lifestyle and Therapy, has also been established in the stadium.
Bátor Tüzép Építőipari és Kereskedelmi Kft. will carry out the construction for a net amount of HUF 179,5 million and they will have half a year to complete the work.
