Seven Hungarian universities have been included in the 2021 world ranking published by US News Best Global Universities.
In the overall world ranking, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) achieved the best place among Hungarian institutions, with ranking 414th. The second was Semmelweis University (672), followed by the University of Debrecen (672), and the University of Szeged (726).
The University of Debrecen was ranked 285th in Europe and in five sub-ranks, with the best ranking (375) in physics.
Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and the University of Pécs (PTE) were no longer in the top thousand: BME was 1,020, PTE was 1,131. The CEU was also included in the list with a partial result.
ELTE was also listed as the best university in Hungary, ranking 182nd in the European sub-rankings, as well as 543th in chemistry, 226th in physics, 230th in psychology and 155th in space research.
The best partial result was achieved by Semmelweis University: 87th. Semmelweis University was ranked 87th in the field of cardiology and the cardiovascular system. It is the best Hungarian ranking in the scientific sub-rankings. The medical university ranks 285th on the European list and is otherwise on eight specialization lists, between 87th and 345th.
The University of Szeged was ranked in four sub-ranks (chemistry, pharmacy, neurology and behavioral sciences and physics), and the University of Szeged was ranked 308th in Europe.
BME achieved the best partial ranking (491) in IT, becoming 402nd in the overall European list.
The University of Pécs is the 444th best institution in Europe according to the ranking of US News. The university achieved its best partial position in clinical pharmacy (512).
CEU, although not ranked overall, the university ran to 346th place in the social sciences.
