Wearing a face mask is obligatory on public transport and at stops

Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn once again on public transport.

According to a government decree, wearing a face mask is obligatory on public transport including buses, trams, and trolleybuses and also at the stops.

Anyone in Debrecen who fails to wear the protective equipment in the passenger compartment can get HUf 4,000 fine from ticket inspectors. It can be raised to HUF 5,00  if the fine is not paid within three working days.

Passengers who board without protective equipment and tickets will be fined twice as much.

However, drivers do not always have to wear masks. In vehicles with closed cabins, the use of masks is not compulsory for drivers, István Miklós, traffic director of DKV Zrt., said.

According to the government decree, face masks must be worn not only on local public transport but also at railway stations, bus stations, and bus stops.
