“Due to the current events in Ukraine and the airspace closure, Wizz Air regrets to inform its customers that it is temporarily suspending all flights in the country,” the airline said in a statement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a special military operation in Ukraine’s Donetsk region on the 24th of February 2022, after the separatists declared independence and the people living there have asked Moscow for help. President Putin said that Russia has no plans to invade Ukraine but will seek to demilitarize the country. However, Russian forces have attacked military targets in other parts of Ukraine, and pro-Moscow separatists have also launched attacks in areas under their control in eastern Ukraine.
This also applies to the Debrecen-Kiev flight that started in December.
Passengers on flights booked on flights to or from Ukraine can find more information on wizzair.com or via the airline’s call center.
The airline hopes that the situation will be resolved soon so flights can resume.
